Dinner reservations and a cake are nice. Pulling up in a 1955 Porsche Speedster is the part of the birthday people remember. Whether it's a 30th, a 50th or a surprise for someone who has always wanted to drive a vintage Mustang, a classic convertible turns an ordinary birthday into a day with a story.
This guide covers birthday car rental in Los Angeles: which classic fits the person, how to plan a birthday drive and how to keep a surprise a surprise.
Pick the classic that fits the birthday person

| Who it's for | Car | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The car lover, or a milestone birthday for two | 1955 Porsche 356 Speedster, black or silver | The most photographed car in our fleet, low, light and pure fun |
| Someone who grew up wanting a Mustang | 1965 Mustang convertible, red or blue | Four seats and the easiest classic to drive |
| A bold birthday night out | 1969 Mustang convertible, black on black | Dark, sharp and made for city lights |
| A big family birthday or a parent's 60th or 70th | 1967 Cadillac DeVille, white, 1970 DeVille, red or 1961 Buick Electra | Big back seats, a soft ride and old-Hollywood style |
Pick the decade they love: 50s, 60s or 70s classic car rentals, or browse the full classic fleet. Thinking Mustang? Here's why a Mustang convertible is the LA classic.
Good to know: the Speedsters are manual, so make sure the driver is comfortable with a stick shift.
Three birthday plans that work

The coast drive. Pick up the car in the morning, head up the coast for lunch, and stop for photos on the way back at golden hour.
The grand arrival. Use the car to bring the birthday person to dinner or the party, get the photos out front and make the entrance the moment everyone talks about.
The all-day keeper. Rent it for the full day so the birthday person can drive it themselves, then keep it for a second day if the party runs into the weekend.
Each rental day includes 50 miles, and classic car service stays within 50 miles of our Inglewood office. Extra miles are $1.50 each, so plan a route that fits. More ideas on our special occasion car rentals page.
How to pull off a surprise
- Book in your name if you're paying, and add the birthday person as a driver if they'll be behind the wheel. Every driver must be 25+ with a valid license.
- Get their license details quietly. We need them on the rental before anyone drives.
- Check their insurance. Each driver brings proof of their own coverage, and we don't sell it.
- Plan the reveal at our lot or plan a pickup time that fits the party. Our office hours are below, and after-hours handoffs are by appointment.
- Book early. Every car is one of a kind, and weekends go first.
